FRANKFURT 28 - 30/3/15

Arrived at Frankfurt International airport at 7am after a very turbulent flight.  Poor Erik got air sick.
We were processed through customs in quick German efficiency that we wondered did we miss something.  I think with all the queuing and delays we were surprised.
Stayed at SmartStay in NiddastrBfe close to Frankfurt Main Bahnhopf for two nights, very clean warm and comfortable.  Temp around 3 -13C.  We are now (as I type) on the ICE to Amsterdam going at speed of 250mph.  We are travelling first class - could get used to this :)

Spent first day taking in sights of the city.

The next day we travelled by train to Trier (oldest city in Germany built by the Romans) to catch up with Juliane and her fiance Patrick from Saarbrucken.
Lighting a candle at the Dome Cathedral

Showing their butts to the devil.  Devil tried to destroy the Dome by throwing a rock, but missed.

Butt selfie?

Kuala Lumpur 27/3/2015

Finally arrived in Kuala Lumpur 6 hour wait for flight to Frankfurt leaving at 2359 hrs.  I envy how the boys can just sleep anywhere.

Flight delayed by 24hour. Erik is already over it.
 Spent night I
in AKL.  Breakfast at imperial before heading back to airport and doing it all over again.

So far our trip is evolving as I get in touch with friends in Europe.  We will be travelling down to Trier to meet up with Juliane Schmidt and then on to Bonn to hopefully catch up with Eva Lametta (Ludwig).  From there we plan to go to Bruxelles, Amsterdam, back across Germany to Berlin or may go over to Sweden/Norway.. we will see.  The great thing with our eurail pass we can come and go as we please.  Last time we came to Europe in 2000 we travelled by Bus, we would phone ahead to book accommodation using Lonely Planet, this time we are doing this with smart phones and apps!
